Direct Burials
Direct burials take place in peaceful natural settings, where a tree can be planted as a living memorial. Over time, the site develops into a species-rich native woodland, leaving a lasting tribute to your loved one.
Direct burials are increasingly chosen for their simplicity, environmental benefits, and lower costs. Armstrong & Fraser can arrange the transfer of a body to any natural burial site or crematorium in the UK.
What is a Direct Burial?
A direct burial means the body is not embalmed and is placed straight into the ground. Embalming uses formaldehyde, a carcinogen that can pose serious health risks to those regularly exposed.
For a green direct burial, the body can be wrapped in a natural linen or cotton shroud, or placed in a biodegradable coffin made from wicker, cardboard, or other natural materials.
A direct burial can be as simple or as unique as you want it to be, reflecting your loved one’s life and your values.
